For us, the key is that environmental with the ‘social’ label has a much wider and ecosystemic perspective of what is happening in the world. It’s not centered only on environmental issues, rather it is centered on where the causes of why we are in this environmental crisis are emanating from. And when you dedicate yourself to looking at the causes of the environmental crisis, you run into capitalism and you run into structures and format of systems that are guilty for bringing us into this situation. So from the perspective of social environmentalism, we understand that we have to work on these causes, we have to denounce them, and we’re not limiting ourselves to only denouncing the environmental problems and addressing only that part, rather you could find an environmentalist in action at a protest to fight for the wolf and the next day at a protest to fight for public health and another day at a protest to fight for refugees. And this is a discourse from a much broader view of what is happening and what where we have to look to address it. It’s much more than protecting the planet, it’s much more than protecting ecosystems, it’s also about our living conditions, health, education, etc.
