WARNING (THIS IS ONE PARTICULAR DEFINITION; IT IS NOT UNIVERSAL NOR DOES IT EXCLUDE OTHER DEFINITIONS/ WAYS OF UNDERSTANDING THE PRACTICES OF ARTS IN ACTION).
Performance is an existential, intuitive expression, a procedure that is declassified and declassifies, that opens possibilities for observation, involvement, and intervention in the world. The body. Bodies. Are spirits. There is no separation. Liveliness. Constant emotion. Poetic action without sense, invisibly public, the transformation of state itself, of improper state, alert and free. The alteration of the collective body, care, attention and consciousness, an intimate relationship with Nature. Art in action. The art of living. Unclassifiable experiences. Like performance. A rudimentary expression. Something personal. A drop in the ocean. No more no less. The mature innocence in every action. Intelligence. The commitment to joy and play. The wildness of glasses, humor, failures and blows. Performance, as a communicative process, can be hybridization, critical thinking, grounded writing. And the presence of the public is not necessary, as in the performing arts. Performance is also a weaving. It makes sense not as an isolated piece. Not as an object of art. Rather as a collective trace of a time. It’s an infinite repertoire that helps us understand what the fuck we’re doing here. Nothing is guaranteed.
