Environmental Public Humanities. Action for Climate Education

This workshop aims to explore climate literacy, focusing on skills and habits crucial for decision-making and supporting local solutions. The group of students in Palmar Álvarez-Blanco’s course reflected on strategies for developing systemic thinking and connecting with an audience to foster concrete actions in their local community.
This workshop not only envisions sustainable futures but also supports their achievement by encouraging localized action for the defense of land stewardship and climate justice. In this case, we focused on riverfront resilience and the health of the Cannon River in Northfield, but it can be extended to other resources depending on where the workshop is located.
Finally, the goal was to strengthen students’ capacity to support climate decisions and build communities aware of their impact on the land. Through the workshop, we reflected on skills and habits for decision-making in the defense and stewardship of the land and the possible localized intervention of a local issue.
